AYSO Section 9

Summer Tournaments

Summer tournaments are a great way for players in our core programs to have more opportunities to play and to play at a higher level.  Regions that want to participate in summer tournaments  will hold "Summer Select" tryouts for players U10 and up.  These teams then practice a couple of times a week and travel around Section 9 during the summer to play other Summer Select teams in various tournaments. This is a higher level of commitment and gives players a small taste of a more competitive environment.  There are generally between 2-4 tournaments each summer.

Hosting a Tournament

Are you hosting a tournament or would like to host a tournament?  Get started here.  All the documents you need are to the right and ready to download and customize for your tournament.   AYSO Only Tournaments require the first 9 documents (not the Website Form).  Open Tournaments require all 10 documents.  Once they are customized, the entire packet needs to be sent to your Area Director, Section Tournament Director, and Section Director for approval.  Open Tournaments are also sent to the National Office along with the national tournament fee.

For all tournaments after 2017, please be aware of the following changes to the tournament rules:
Changed FIFA to IFAB in reference to the Laws of the Game
Clarification of the Subsitutions section regarding high temperature instruction to the referees
Clarification of the members of the Tournament Staff and the Tournament Rules Committee
Addition of the Heading Rule
Addition of Standings rule regarding deductions for coach/assistant coach ejection

If you have any questions about completing your tournament packet, or hosting a tournament, contact the Section Tournament Director or the Section Director.  Thank you for working hard to bring more soccer to more kids by hosting a tournament in your city.
